Mutterstraße Hiking Trail: Ways into Wildpark Feldkirch

This short walk leads from the Maria Königin des Friedens parish church in Levis to Wildpark Feldkirch along an uphill gravel track. Shaded woodland sections and the peaceful route make for a varied approach. On arrival, the walk can be combined with a tour of the wildlife park.

Best time of year

All year round. The paths may be slippery in snow, ice or very wet conditions.

The walk starts at the Maria Königin des Friedens parish church in Levis. From there, the route follows a gravel track that climbs steadily through the woods, gaining around 160 metres in elevation over a relatively short distance.

Higher up, the track joins Schallerhofstraße. Follow this road to Wildpark Feldkirch, which is reached after approximately 2.4 kilometres. The walk can then be combined with a visit to see the native wildlife.

We recommend travelling to the starting point by public transport or bicycle. The walk begins at the Maria Königin des Friedens parish church on Mutterstraße in Feldkirch-Levis.

By public transport

Bus stop at the start: Levis Jugendherberge

Bus stop at the destination: There is no regular bus stop at Wildpark Feldkirch. For the return journey, you will need to walk down to a bus stop in the town.

Railway station: Altenstadt Bahnhof. From there, buses run to the Levis Jugendherberge stop.

By car

Take the A14 Rheintal/Walgau motorway to the Feldkirch-Nord exit, then continue via Altenstadt to Levis. As there are no parking spaces at the starting point, travelling by car is not recommended.

Parking

There is no parking at the starting point. Please travel by public transport or bicycle.

For this walk, we recommend suitable equipment: a walking rucksack, sturdy and comfortable footwear, clothing appropriate for the weather, trekking poles if required, sun and rain protection, provisions and sufficient drinking water, a first-aid kit, a mobile phone, etc.

The gravel track can be slippery in wet conditions, snow or ice. Sturdy footwear and a walking pace suited to the terrain are therefore important. Be aware of possible traffic on Schallerhofstraße.
