The KUB is one of the most important venues for exhibitions in Europe. That’s due to its award-winning architecture, on the one hand, and to its top-class exhibitions of contemporary art, on the other. Constantly changing presentations of works by outstanding artists are staged behind the translucent glass façade, which at night acts like a beacon. It provides artists with the unique opportunity to stage their works in an entire building, which is why many works are created specifically for the KUB and why the venue draws admirers from all over the world.
The architect Peter Zumthor won the ‘Mies van der Rohe Award for European Architecture’ for the Kunsthaus Bregenz in 1998. The spatial concepts and the external design realised for the Kunsthaus are always a yardstick and source of inspiration for the artists and their works of art. The platform’s architecture therefore makes a significant contribution to the exhibition programme.
