Brief description

Recommended route: Versettla Bahn summit station - Alp Nova - Klettersteig Madrisella - Madrisella - Versettla - Versettla Bahn summit station

Directions
You will start your loop tour at the summit station of the Versettla Bahn. The trail leads past the Nova Stoba, down to Alpe Nova and on into the Novatal. After about an hour, you will reach lake Seressee, where you can already see the sign to the Madrisella via ferrata mounted on the rocks. It is recommended that you are fully equipped with your climbing harness and helmet beforehand, as there is a risk of falling stones right from the starting point.

Now you turn left and – passing the cairns – follow the approx. 15 to 20-minute ascent to the starting point. An almost vertical wall is your first warm-up challenge and will place demands on your stability and arm muscles. After a short break, you will scale the next wall up to one of the highlights of the via ferrata: a rest bench embedded in the rock, where you can catch your breath and enjoy the view in comfort. Make good use of this break, because the most demanding part will be coming up after a short descent – the 150 metre-high, vertical wall. You’ll climb this wall with several metres of thin air under your feet. Remember to enjoy the surrounding idyllic panorama now and again! Having arrived at the top, a small plateau offers a place to rest. Follow the short ridge and start mounting the last wall of the via ferrata. After the last arduous part, a crosspath and the final, almost vertical metres to the end point await. After approx. 2.5 to 3 hours, the Madrisella via ferrata is completed.

You’ll be rewarded at the end point with a beautiful view. Only another five-minute walk and you’ll arrive at the summit of the 2,466 metre-high peak of the Madrisella, where you can enjoy a magnificent 360° panorama. Don’t forget to take in the impressive view of the via ferrata route at your feet.

The descent to the summit station of the Versettla Bahn or to the Nova Stoba takes about 1.5 hours.
