Pfänderbahn

Pfänderbahn

There’s no faster way to get up the Pfänder than with The Pfänderbahn cable car, which takes just six minutes to get its passengers up Bregenz's local mountain. There are far more things to enjoy at an altitude of 1,064 metres above sea level – from panoramic inn to ski slope – than it’s possible to do in a single day in any season. The view, the clear air and the souvenir photos alone make a trip up the Pfänder worthwhile.

Pfänderbahn Cable Car

Around 35 million visitors have travelled up the Pfänder using the Pfänderbahn since the day it took its first gondola passengers up the mountain in 1927. The viewing platform presents vistas of large sections of the Vorarlberg region and neighbouring countries – it’s possible to see 240 Alpine peaks (weather permitting). The vistas are twice as pleasurable when viewed from a comfy chair in one of the four inns where guests may also enjoy the sun terraces, tiled stoves and seasonal home cooking.

Those who don’t want to miss out on a hike can also just purchase a downhill or uphill ride and conquer half of the route on foot. Or simply choose one of the many hiking or cycling routes that start at the mountain station – some of which present always changing views of the lake. Families also enjoy visiting the Alpenwildpark (Alpine Wildlife Park) where the many native animals, including wild boars and a herd of red deer, look forward to people visiting all year round.
