Ansitz Sonderberg (Zunderberg) helped its builder to the title "von Sonderberg"
From 1561, canon Dr. Friedrich Sandholzer had the residence built on Sonderberg north of Götzis for his family, which proudly called itself "von Sonderberg" from 1563. In 1710 the castle was sold and is still privately owned. Its interior has since been extensively modernised and expanded. On the outside, however, the manor has retained its former charm. Above the portal to the staircase tower are the Renaissance coat of arms stones of the Sandholzer and the old noble Jonas families. There is also a small house chapel inside. Although the building is closed to the public, it is worth visiting.
