Not far from here is also the house where Franz Martin Hämmerle was born in 1815. Hämmerle worked his way up from being a "go-between" or broker for textile contract work from nearby Switzerland to become the owner of the largest Vorarlberg textile company. For a long time the textile industry was Dornbirn's major job provider.
