Emsiana

Emsiana

The Emsiana is the Hohenems festival of culture that invites visitors to make discoveries and to remember. It builds a bridge between the city’s present and its past. The small festival has been presenting an impressive number of cultural events for more than 10 years. From classical concerts, world music and exhibitions of contemporary art to children’s performances – this is where a festival of culture is celebrated that makes Hohenems unforgettable and that has now started to make history itself.

Emsiana

The Emsiana attracts the curious with an open mind regarding the past and takes them on a trip into the Hohenems history. The initiators pull a new surprise out of the hat every year that even amazes the locals. The topics are presented with artistic installations by renowned artists and newly discovered exceptional talents: sometimes pianists meet soul bands, sometimes Jewish delicacies meet Vorarlberg classics.

Locations are selected for the Emsiana from across Hohenems: there have already been artistic installations at the Alt-Ems castle ruins and culinary delights served on Salomon-Sulzer-Platz. There are exhibitions and special shows in the Jüdisches Museum (Jewish Museum), the Alte-Zeiten-Museum (Old Times Museum) and the Spielzeugmuseum (Toy Museum) every year. Visitors are accompanied by musical guests on all four days. This cultural festival could not be more diverse and impressively celebrates the history of a small town.
