Alte-Zeiten-Museum Hohenems

Alte-Zeiten-Museum, Hohenems

Opening a window into the past.

The Museum of Times Past is located in the old village center of Hohenems, in a house dating from 1602. This wooden building was saved from demolition in 2011 and has been renovated and preserved by a non-profit sponsoring organization. A small museum was opened on the ground floor in 2016. Its exhibits, illustrated with stories and destinies of people from around the region, provide insights into the way of life around 1600.

In addition to these examples of everyday life, topics dealing with war-related manufactory, the Plague, and witch-hunting are highlighted. There is also a small garden next to the museum. Various old grain varieties are preserved and cultivated here, along with displays of other regional crop plants.
