Lake Constance gives Bregenz, the capital of Vorarlberg, a special flair. The biking and walking paths lead along the well kept lakeside promenade to ports, the Bregenz Festival House and the public open-air bathing area. Visitors can enjoy the best view from the lookout point at the top of the 1,064 m high Pfänder mountain. The Pfänder cable railway will take you to the summit in just a few minutes. Cozy coffeehouses, inns and shops line the pedestrian zone in the city center. The Bregenz Old Town, the so-called Upper Town, is an oasis of tranquility.
